How is a mezzanine constructed?
Most mezzanines are constructed from a steel framework of beams and columns which in turn supports the rest of the floor. To maximise installation speed and flexibility in design, almost all mezzanine floors are freestanding and sit complete free from the building’s structural walls. In order for a mezzanine floor to be installed in line with UK regulations, there must be adequate headroom to ensure safety for all personnel that use it.
Believe it or not, the word ‘mezzanine’ actually originates from Italian language where ‘mezzano’ means ‘middle’.
